Status: Resident all year round             Scots Names: Blue Neb, Douker

Habitat: Mainly marshes, lakes and lochs
UK Population: Up to 8000 breeding pairs though up to 120,000 birds can overwinter
Breeding: 8-11 eggs, up to 25 days incubation
Food: Insects, molluscs and plants
Call Note: Series of low croaks
