Scots Names: Barleybird, Black headed thistlefinch, Golden Wren
Size: 12cm
Habitat: Forest and forest edge, often feeding in the tops of conifers, alder, birch & on thistle heads
readily comes to gardens, especially fond of niger seed.

Breeding: Up to 5 eggs, up to 13 days incubation.
UK Population: 369,000 breeding pairs
Food: Mainly seeds and some insects
Call Note: Lots of nasal sounding variations of dyooweee, quite vocal
Status: GREEN
