Scots Names: Short horned hoolet, Cataface, Grass owl
Size: 38cm
Habitat: Marsh, moor and grassland
Breeding: Up to 7 eggs, up to 27 days incubation.
UK Population: Up to 3500 pairs
Food: Small mammals and some birds, hunts in the day as well as night
Call Note: Soft 'hoop hoop hoop hoop hoop', almost lapwing like short escalating soft shriek
Status: AMBER
