Size: 42cm,
wing span 102cm
Habitat: Coastal cliffs, particularly during winter,
wooded gorges, rocky outcrops and increasingly in towns
and cities, nesting on high buildings.
Breeding:
Approximately 1,400 breeding pairs. Nest site known
as an eyrie, birds are very territorial during
breeding season.
Food: Small songbirds, feral pigeon, occassionally larger
birds such as pheasant & cauvids, waders and ducks
in coastal areas.
Call Note: Range of variations on the 'ka-ka-ka' call
dependant on level of perceived threat. Adults more shrill
with quicker calls when feeling threatened.
