Status: Resident all year round
Scots Names: Didapper, Doucker, Penny bird, Tom pudding

Size: 27cm
Habitat: Ponds, marshes and lakes
UK Population: About 10,000 breeding pairs but up to 36,000 birds overwintering
Breeding: Up to 6 eggs with up to 21 days incubation
Food: Insects, molluscs, small fish, tadpoles
Call Note: High pitched short fast notes followed by a sound like a dog's squeaky toy being shaken rapidly.
Status: AMBER
