Status: Resident all year round
Scots Names: Halcyon, the King's Fisher
Size: 16 cm (6.5")
Habitat: Slow moving watercourses, especially with deep pools. Lakes, ponds often coastal areas & estuaries in winter.
Food: Primarily small fish species
Breeding: Up to 8000 breeding pairs
Call Note: High pitched seee-seee. Often heard before being seen as it flies down the river
