Status: Resident all year round          
Scots Names: Jinny Heron, Craigie Heron, Jemmy Lang Legs, Lang Sandy
Size: 94cm
Habitat: Mainly marshes, rivers, lakes and flooded fields
UK Population: Over 14000 nests
Breeding: 3-4 eggs, up to 27 days incubation, young are very noisy in the nest or (heronry)
Food: Fish, amphibians, small mammals, insects and even reptiles
Call Note: Loud rattling "Franckkk" call
Status: GREEN
