Much of the woodland is currently self-sown elm, ash, sycamore and willow in the wake of mature tree loss. The woodland slopes gently down to a wide swathe of level open ground beside the Annick Water.

Lainshaw 2;

The mature policy woodland to the west of Lainshaw House is associated with an avenue connecting the town with a feature known as Anderson's Mount, which is a closed canopy beech wood with a sparse shrub layer.
