Auchlin Mine Wood lies approximately 2km west of the village of Skares off the B7046.

Parking: Parking for several cars by the interpretation shelter.

Access: Formal surfaced access exists throughout the site.

Within short walking distance: None. A longer walk could take in Whitehill Colliery Woodland.

Description:

Auchlin Mine Wood is a developing woodland habitat which affords excellent views of the surrounding landscape. The wetland areas are also being developed to enhance the biodiversity value of the site. Autumn and winter is the best time to view birds at Auchlin, as flocks of finches feed around the site, together with migrant fieldfare and redwing feeding around the berry bearing trees & shrubs.
